The Roleplaying Exchange Podcast

In this episode of RPX Rollup, we're rolling up characters for Free League's Coriolis: The Great Dark, the bleaker sequel to their Arabian Nights-in-space RPG. Set 200 years after the events of The Third Horizon, this game follows refugees who fled to a dead region of space called the Lost Horizon—only to find themselves trapped in the Jumwa system with a mysteriously silent portal gate and nowhere else to go.  Join us as we roll up characters in this brand new setting and explore the new streamlined talent system,

“The Hospital appears to be in quite a state. Some crazy has brought all the local authorities to bear upon this place of healing, which now finds itself under siege from within. The Baron and his friends need to get on out there fast to do some crowd control, before things get far worse. Until next time Children… Sleep well.”

In this episode of RPX Rollup, we're rolling up characters for Free League's Alien Evolved, the updated edition of their acclaimed sci-fi horror RPG. Set in the 2180s, Alien Evolved places players on the frontier of colonized space, where they'll navigate corporate greed, cosmic horror, and everyone's favorite xenomorphs. We try out both the traditional point-buy system and the extensive Life Path generator to see how each shapes character backstory and gameplay—discovering how tragedy, betrayal, and random dice rolls can create deeply invested characters before the game even begins.  Because in space, no one can hear you scream—and time dilation is a bitch.

“Anyone heard about the strange accident that happened last night on Main street? Ambulances and Police have a whole stretch cordoned off. There’s also more strange and violent animal attacks across the region. Feels like we need some divine intervention on this one. Until next time Children… Sleep well.”

“Hope folks camping out by Cave Run Lake are watching themselves. Seems some strange occurrences have been happening out at the lake. I hear someone may have split it like old Moses and the red sea. One thing for sure, something fishy is going on. Until next time Children… Sleep well.”

“Well it seems the tri-state area is getting weirder out there. Sightings abound, of large wolf creatures, strange noises in the woods and one hell of a speed demon racing car that state police still refuse to apprehend. Things are gonna get worse before they get better. Until next time Children… Sleep well.”

“Have y’all heard of those speed demons out on the back roads and country highways? They’re stirring up trouble for the local authorities. Weird thing is even with close calls and stops, the cops are just letting them get away with it, things are in a hairy state I tell ya. Until next time Children… Sleep well.”
